This can only be done if you're hitting and have a runner on base. Have the runner steal and do whatever with him, make him steal or go back to his base, but immediately hold down Y before the camera switches back to the batter. If you did it correctly it should show the animation of your batter walking up to the plate and the count will be reset back to 0-0.

While hitting, hold the R trigger button before the pitcher goes into the windup. The hitting cursor will come up later than the normal cursor, but when it does, it will be VERY BIG! The cursor shrinks to normal size as the pitch comes to the plate, but hitting with the huge cursor is still a lot easier.

When playing a season or franchise, go to the schedule screen, then press X to get the list of games and start times. When you simulate games, it gives you the score. If one of the computer teams throws a shutout, you can simulate it again by pressing A. If there is another shutout, it will simulate it again and again, until both teams score.
