Sonic Mega Collection Cheats

This secret works only in sonic 2, sonic 3, sonic & knuckles, Knuckles in Sonic 2, and Sonic 3 & knuckles.

First, you need to enter in the level select cheat for the selected game. Now, whenever you play(until you quit), press START/PAUSE, hold A, and now you can move in slow motion! A special bonus is, the clock won't run down! This is a great way to see things coming, and is epecially helpful on The Doomsday Zone in Sonic 3(& knuckles). The only problems are, to jump, you have to use X, and if you press B, you'll go back to the title screen.

Begin a new game and get to the first pulley machine and hang on one of the handles and press Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right, Up, Up, Up and listen for chime. Then press pause the game and press B to return to main menu. Next Hold Down the B button again and press Start to access the level select screen. Remember you will not be able to access all levels in that game without switching Sonic and Knuckles.

If you remember the codes from Sonic 1, 2, or 3, well here they are again, because they work!

Sonic 1:

Level Select:

On the title screen, press 'Up, Down, Left, Right' on the d-pad. You will hear a chime. While holding the button that is the Genesis A button, press start.

Easy Emeralds:

After doing the level select code, go into the special stage and collect the emerald. Hit Z and go back to the title screen. Do this until you have all of the emeralds.

Sonic 2:

Level Select:

Go into the options menu. From there, play these sounds in the following order: '19, 65, 09, 17'. You will hear a chime. While sound effects is highlighted, press start. On the main menu, hold the button that is the Genesis A button, and press start.

Easy Emeralds:

Same method as Sonic 1.

Super Sonic:

On the level select screen, play these sounds in the following order: '4, 1, 2, 6'. Start any stage. When you get 50 rings, jump and you will become Super Sonic.

Debug Mode:

On the level select screen, play these sounds in the following order: '1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4'

Level Select (when locked onto S&K):

At the title screen, press 'Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right' on the D-Pad. While holding the button that is the Genesis A button, press start.

Sonic 3:

Level Select:

During the time it shows Sonic, press 'Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up' on the D-Pad. This may take a few tries. If done right, you can go down past 'Competition' on the main menu, getting an 'Options' menu.

Debug Mode:

On the level select screen, go to any stage and hold the button that is the Genesis A button, and press start.

Sonic Spinball:

Pick a Level:

On the options menu, press 'A, Down, B, Down, C, Down, A, B, Up, A, C, Up, B, C, Up'. You will hear a chime. Go back to the main menu. Hold A and press start for level 2, B and start for level 3, and C and start for level 4.

In Sonic Mega Collection, the version of Sonic 1 you play is the Japanese version.

You can play the US version by pressing, on the info screen for Sonic 1, Up, Z, Down, Z, Left, Z, Right, Z. The American version differs in that the clouds don't move in Green Hill, there's no wavy water in Labyrinth, and the level select is in the wrong order.

To play another Japanese version, which fixes the bug which makes you continue to take hits when you hit spikes even if you're flashing and supposed to be temporarily invincible, hit, on the same screen, Z, Z, Z, Z, Z, Z, Z, Z, Z, Up, Down, Left, Right.

Do the level select code then go to the level select screen, then go to sound,(The one on the level select screen) do sounds 1,9,9,2,1,1,2,4. You should hear a ring sound,if not try again.
Choose a level, hold B+Start until game play begins. (A on the sega genisses) There should be numbers and letters on the score meter. The time should be messed up too. Press A to turn into an object. Press B to scroll through objects. Press X to paste the object. Press A to turn back into Sonic or Tails. (Depending on who you are using) Have fun!

Go to Angel Island Zone. Get on a swinging vine and press Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right, Up, Up, Up. You should hear a ring. Now pause and press A. You will be at the title screen. Press Up to find a Sound Test menu. Choose it. Once there, choose Mushroom Hill Zone. Go to one of those metal things you pull to lift yourself. Get on it and press Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right, Up, Up, Up. You should hear a ring. Now pause and press A. You will be at the title screen. Go to Sound Test and highlight the level you want to debug in. Hold A and select the level.

Controls are:

B: Turn into object.
A: Scroll through objects.
C: Place objects.

After performing the code, you can take characters to levels they couldn't otherwise reach. Tails in Doomsday, anyone?
