At any moment during the game (preferably at the very beginning), press "START". For every START button pressed, one continue is turned into an extra lifebar instead. You will see a number appear beside your life bar. This makes the game a lot easier because you no longer have to restart if your life bar reaches zero! The maximum hit points you can get is 64, so press START four times.
